Red Buttons, the carrot-topped burlesque comedian who became a top star in early television and then won a 1957 Oscar for a surprising dramatic role died Thursday. He was 87.

Though no one had Mr. Buttons (nee Aaron Chwatt) on their list, we all say 'Sayonara' to this comic legend.
